Why George Volunteers

Yesterday I asked George why he volunteers with EnviroCorps. This was his reply.

"I volunteer to pick up litter on Fox Island because I hate what people are doing to our island. I detest the look of beer cans, water bottles, cigarette wrappers and butts, fast food containers, plastic bags, coffee cups, etc. which are strewn along our roadways on a daily basis. We live in a beautiful area, and people continue to trash it. Additionally, I walk my dog several times each week, which gives me the incentive to pick up litter while giving him his much needed outing. I truly hate to think what this area would look like if I didn't pick up litter, and I encourage others to step up and make a difference. George"

George is a very consistent volunteer and reports his activities several times a week on the EnviroCorps web site. As a volunteer coordinator it is my job to make sure George is receiving more than he gives, or stated differently, the pluses out weigh the negatives. George feels good about what he is doing for the community he lives in and EnviroCorps. It is our job to make it easy and rewarding for him to do his work and thank him in different ways often.

Thank you George!
You are EnviroCorps number one volunteer.
